This week I began hour compensation with Mrs. Candela. During this time, I edited a few of the photos I had taken from the March 18th ice show. I was able to create a slideshow using them. I am unsure of what my supervisor may want to do with them, I just know she had said she wanted to display them somehow. Because I was unsure of the slideshow option (I don't even know if it can be plugged into their system), I created a generic Prezi. It has some of the photos I edited along with a few captions. I left some empty slides with some suggestions on them that I thought my supervisor may want to include in the presentation. My supervisor had some meetings during my experience so I haven't really had the time to discuss any work further than my site investigations from week one. I spent the remaining time of my experience looking through Dynamic Drive for ideas of things I may want to see if she wants incorporated into the website. For example, the website has many links to flyers and I found this page on Dynamic Drive to create an image tooltip for a link, which could be a great idea. I also found this code for possible galleries of past slideshows. Both of my ideas require some experimenting, so I plan to test them the Monday we come from Spring Break during my time compensation. Timeliness is very important in the workplace. At the City of Saint Clair Shores, the clerks are expected to clock in no more than 6 minutes ahead of their start time. Clerks are also required to clock out before 6 minutes passes at the end of their shift. If they clock in/out before/after those 6 minutes, they are getting paid for the extra time. Being late is considered unacceptable, especially if they clock in 15 minutes after their scheduled shift start time. I definitely agree with the article's motto and author. If I'm late, I panic. I would rather be thirty minutes early and have to sit and wait in the parking lot, than be one or more minutes late. Being explicitly "on time" is late. It takes time to turn on the computers, log in, etc. You shouldn't get paid to sit there and wait. Time management is a huge priority. |

What a great picture, Caitlin. I'm certain no matter what you do or find, you are doing a service to them that they will appreciate.
